The NAPF has responded to the DWP’s consultation on the earnings thresholds under automatic enrolment for 2012/2013.  Going forward, the Government will be required to review the lower and upper earnings band and the earnings trigger every year to ensure that they are at an appropriate level. We have recommended that the DWP link the lower earnings band to the National Insurance Lower Earnings Limit (LEL) and the earnings trigger to PAYE personal tax thresholds to make it easier for employers to administer.
