The 2020 PLSA Annual Conference: A new format for a new world

08 September 2020, News

It is less than two months until October brings around one of the highlights of the pensions industry calendar – the PLSA Annual Conference.

It has been clear to us for a while that we needed an alternative solution for this year’s conference, in order to best protect the health and safety of delegates, exhibitors, speakers and support staff.

That is why the 2020 PLSA Annual Conference will take place on the vFairs platform, a specially designed online events space, complete with a virtual auditorium and exhibition hall.

The key aim of the conference is to bring people together to discuss, debate and – hopefully – solve some of the biggest issues facing the retirement industry. In this highly uncertain period, working together to address old and new challenges alike is vital.

This year, speakers and panellists will be exploring the events of the past few months and what the role of pension funds will be in a future that is being shaped by our experiences and actions.

The virtual format means it is much easier for more people from all over the UK and overseas to access the industry-leading discussions that the PLSA facilitates.

Each exhibitor will have a virtual booth, and delegates will be able to interact with them through text or video chat as well as download materials.

Delegates will get access to more than 30 sessions covering issues from regulation to investment to the latest thinking on environmental, social and governance issues, debates involving experts and influencers from the worlds of pensions, politics, regulation, and the media.

Each session will be a live webinar with interactive Q&A. Sessions will be available for 30 days after the event so you can catch up on what you might have missed.

While online networking might not be quite the same as it would be in person, our virtual conference will enable you to arrange and participate in text chats or video calls with anyone else at the event. This can be on a one-to-one basis or in groups.

Delegates will see the future revealed, hear from people who engage millions, and develop expertise with a programme covering the geopolitical and economic outlook, key pensions issues, and the shape of the industry to come.

The PLSA will also be promoting its work on best practice with a dedicated session on decumulation and pension freedoms. We will also be marking one year since the launch of our Retirement Living Standards with a discussion on how schemes can ensure members get the most from their savings.

The challenges of ensuring the financial wellbeing of savers, providing products for a new type of retirement, investing to protect our environment and society, and learning to withstand future shocks have never been greater.

As the economy and our society go through the most dramatic shift in living memory, the pensions industry is working to picture the future, to invest for the future and to provide for the future.

Register now to participate in a new kind of conference and a new kind of retirement industry thinking.
