Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association launches two new ‘Made Simple’ Guides

14 March 2016, Press Release
  • TOPICS COVER MULTI ASSET CREDIT AND SYSTEMATIC INVESTING

The Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association has launched two new Made Simple Guides on Multi Asset Credit (sponsored by Eaton Vance) and Systematic Investing (sponsored by Winton), adding to its library of essential resources for the pensions industry.

Commenting on the launch of the new Made Simple Guides, Joanne Segars, Chief Executive, Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association, said:

“2015 was a busy and challenging year for pension schemes, with the implementation of the Pension Freedoms, and this year promises to be no different. Our Made Simple Guides are designed to explain some of the more complex issues in pensions in a straightforward way – helping our members by removing some of the uncertainty around difficult topics.

“We are grateful to Eaton Vance and Winton for their time, expertise and knowledge in developing these guides on Multi Asset Credit and Systematic Investing – both valuable additions to the range.”

MULTI ASSET CREDIT MADE SIMPLE GUIDE

David Morley, Business Development Director, UK Institutional at Eaton Vance, sponsors of the Multi Asset Credit Made Simple Guide, commented:

“Multi-asset credit (MAC) strategies are becoming increasingly popular because they have a flexible, diversified approach that invests dynamically across a range of credit asset classes. This approach can help pension fund investors address many of the current concerns they have around accessing global credit markets.

Choosing the right MAC strategy requires a great deal of care and consideration, which is where this Made Simple Guide comes in, and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to develop it in conjunction with the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association.

“Our guide explains multi-asset credit in detail, describing all of the underlying asset classes as well as the associated benefits and risks. It also outlines all of the necessary elements that schemes need to consider, putting them in a strong position to select a MAC manager with the right skills and strategy to fit with their needs.”

SYSTEMATIC INVESTING MADE SIMPLE GUIDE

Jonathan Anayi, Head of UK Business Development, Winton, sponsors of the Systematic Investing Made Simple Guide, said:

“Systematic investing is becoming an increasingly important part of many pension fund portfolios. It is worth taking the time to understand it, as it has a lot to offer the typical pension fund portfolio.

“Throughout our Made Simple Guide, we have sought to explain what systematic investing is, how it works, how it has performed, how an allocation can be beneficial to a pension scheme’s wider portfolio and what to consider when investing in such a fund.

“We are happy to have developed this guide with the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association; in our view it offers a compelling and complementary investment opportunity for UK pension schemes.”

PDF versions of these Made Simple Guides are available to download FREE from the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association website. Printed copies are also available and can be ordered online at www.plsa.co.uk (£18 for members and £35 for non-members).

The Made Simple Guides were launched at the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association’s Investment Conference in Edinburgh on Thursday 10 March 2016.
