PLSA comments on government consultation on pensions scams

06 December 2016, Press Release

James Walsh, Policy Lead: EU & International, said:

“The Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association welcomes the Government’s consultation on pensions scams, which includes the proposals put forward by this organisation.

“Scams are a major threat to people’s hard-earned retirement savings and the Government is right to give pension schemes more tools to protect savers. Limiting the statutory right to a pensions transfer, banning pension cold calling and the increase in regulation of Small Self-administered Schemes are significant steps in the right direction.

“We will examine the details of the consultation in the coming weeks before issuing a full response to the Government.”
