PLSA Policy Board appoints 10 new members
10 March 2025, Press Release
A further five new members have also been selected to join from October 2025.
Joining the Policy Board with immediate effect are Nest’s Philip Brown, Kent County Council’s Nick Buckland, Legal & General’s Colin Clarke, The People’s Partnership’s Tim Gosling and Joanne Donnelly, who joins the London Pension Fund Authority in April.
Joining from October will be The Church of England’s John Ball, USS’s Naomi Clark, Mercer’s Tess Page, PPI’s Suzy Morrissey and Barnett Waddingham’s Matt Tickle.
Formed in 2018, the PLSA Policy Board guides and decides on the PLSA’s public policy positions, with a remit stretching across all PLSA’s policy work. Its goal is to shape the policy agenda in pursuit of PLSA’s mission to help everyone enjoy a better retirement.
It is chaired by John Chilman and encompasses participants from across the PLSA’s membership - including pension funds from the DB, DC, LGPS, and Master Trust sectors, as well as Business Members such as consultancies and law firms.
John Chilman, Policy Board Chair, PLSA, said: “I was delighted to see such a strong list of candidates, and am very much looking forward to working with those who have been appointed to the Policy Board. Having an experienced and diverse group of thought-leaders and experts from across the PLSA’s membership means that we can shape the pensions and savings landscape for the benefit of both schemes and savers, as we focus on the critical issues over the coming years.”
“I would also like to thank all those who applied but, on this occasion, were not selected. There was incredibly stiff competition for these voluntary roles, with a number of applicants for each place. The vast majority of applicants met the personal criteria for the role, so often selection was based on ensuring that our governance remains representative of our wide and complex membership.”
Zoe Alexander, Director of Policy and Advocacy, PLSA said: “I am excited about these new appointments, as well as the exceptionally strong field of applicants the process attracted. The Policy Board helps us develop solutions to the big policy issues of the day, and we are facing into a period in which we expect pension policy to remain a critical part of the national policy agenda. All the best ideas and expert understanding comes from our membership so the role played by the PLSA members on our committees is vital.”
