Helping members run their schemes - June update
09 June 2022, Blog
It was absolutely brilliant to see so many of our members ‘in the flesh’ in Edinburgh just a few days ago. More than 800 PLSA people gathered for our Investment Conference and the positivity and optimism – even in difficult times – was tremendously encouraging. Bringing our members together is one of the PLSA’s key services and I hope all those who attended enjoyed it as much as I did.
My own highlights were economist Dame DeAnne Julius on the macro situation (some delegates want us to invite her back next year to see how her forecasts pan out….) and Christine Armstrong’s high-energy session on the changing world of work, which I was parachuted in to chair at the last minute.
You can view these sessions and more, as well as a selection of interviews, online.
Annual Conference 2022
For most of our members the next opportunity to meet your industry colleagues under the PLSA roof will be our Annual Conference in Liverpool (12-13 October).
The programme is coming along nicely and it’s free for you, your colleagues and trustees. Plus, it counts towards CPD requirements. I hope to see you there.
success of the Retirement Living Standards continues
I’ve also been encouraged by our Policy research showing that 35 million savers now have access to the Retirement Living Standards that the PLSA developed and which many of our members (124 schemes to be precise) are now using on their websites, newsletters and other member communications.
As our Director of Policy and Advocacy, Nigel Peaple, says, ‘the Retirement Living Standards are now firmly established as part of a common language to help people engage with pension saving and understand their spending needs in retirement.’ Let me know if you want to discuss how best to use them in your scheme and I’ll connect you with Nigel’s team.
New Made Simple Guides
Finally, don’t forget to have a look at our latest Made Simple Guides – on DB Derisking and Natural Capital.
I’m told the ‘MSG’ pipeline is looking busy, with editions on TPR’s new ‘single code’ and cyber-security appearing shortly.
Do let me have your feedback on these or any other PLSA member services via [email protected]. The Membership Engagement team always welcomes your input.
