PLSA comments on government consultation on pensions scams

06 December 2016

James Walsh, Policy Lead: EU & International, said:

“The Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association welcomes the Government’s consultation on pensions scams, which includes the proposals put forward by this organisation.

“Scams are a major threat to people’s hard-earned retirement savings and the Government is right to give pension schemes more tools to protect savers. Limiting the statutory right to a pensions transfer, banning pension cold calling and the increase in regulation of Small Self-administered Schemes are significant steps in the right direction.

“We will examine the details of the consultation in the coming weeks before issuing a full response to the Government.”

We’re the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association; the national association with a ninety year history of helping pension professionals run better pension schemes. Our members include over 1,300 pension schemes with 20 million members and £1 trillion in assets, and over 400 businesses. They make us the voice for pensions and lifetime savings in Westminster, Whitehall and Brussels.
