NAPF Comments on the ONS Demographic Trends

22 February 2011

Commenting on the Demographic Trends data published by the Office for National Statistics today, Joanne Segars, Chief Executive of the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF), said:

“Life expectancy is increasing across the board. This emphasizes the need for people to have adequate resources to be able to live comfortably in old age.

“To achieve this, we need a better and more generous state pension, a system that gives people the opportunity to save adequately, and the possibility for people to work longer if they want to or need to.”

Notes to Editors:

2. The NAPF is the leading voice of workplace pensions in the UK. We speak for 1,200 pension schemes with some 15 million members and assets of around £800 billion. NAPF members also include over 400 businesses providing essential services to the pensions sector.
