Alison Binks
Head of Business Development

Alison joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in April 2014.

Alison has responsibility for the Business Development team, managing activity for the sale of the Association’s commercial products and services.

Prior to joining the Association Alison was Head of Sales at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance. Previously she worked in management consultancy for a top 10 accountancy firm, designing and delivering large scale contracts in risk management, financial recovery, culture change, BPR and systems design.

Edward Bogira
Chief of Staff

Edward joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in December 2013.

Edward supports and advises the Chief Executive and Chair on various strategic issues and projects. Edward also assists with externally-facing work, managing briefings, presentations and speeches for both and accompanying them to high-level meetings.

Before joining the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association, Edward spent seven years at the Pension Protection Fund. Edward‘s last role at the PPF was Head of Chief Executive’s Office, a similar role to Chief of Staff. Before that he had roles in strategy, in which he was responsible for producing the strategic plan and getting DWP sign-off, pension protection levy policy, and the press office.

Edward has a BA in English Literature and Philosophy at the University of Manchester and an MA in Issues in Modern Culture from UCL.

Shelly-Ann Bogle
Assistant Finance Manager

Shelly-Ann joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in November 2006. Assisting the Finance Manager, Shelly-Ann is responsible for the day-to-day processing in the finance department and is the first point of contact for all accounts queries. Other responsibilities include: Credit control, VAT returns, purchase ledger payments and Bookshop sales and dispatching.

Matthew Burrell
Senior Policy Adviser: DC

Matthew Joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in November 2016.

Matthew works within the DC, Lifetime savings and Research team and works on all issues relating to DC pension schemes.

Prior to joining the Association, Matthew worked in the policy team at the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. Here he worked on issues like anti Money-Laundering, Pensions Automatic Enrolment and tax digitisation.

Previously he was a student at the University of Warwick where he gained an upper second class BA in History before completing a Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law.

Jenna Cane
Membership Development Manager

Jenna joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in October 2015. She has responsibility for marketing the Association’s member benefits and products, as well as growth and recruitment of membership. Jenna also contributes to broader member relationships alongside the membership team.

Prior to joining, Jenna worked in the financial services and not for profit sectors. She previously managed membership and services at Responsible Finance trade association, and her experience includes commercial banking at HSBC and social investment at Big Issue Invest. 

She has a BA (Hons) Economics degree from the University of Manchester.

Eleanor Carric
PR Manager

Ellie joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in February 2014.

Ellie works in the press office, reporting into the head of media and PR.

The PR and media relations team work to actively promote the Association as the voice of workplace pensions through print and broadcast press coverage, and to ensure that the Association is seen as an authoritative commentator on pensions and related issues.

Before joining the Association, Ellie worked at the Chartered Insurance Institute in the media relations team. Prior to this she worked for KBPR, a specialist pensions and investments PR agency, and was deputy editor at Pensions Age magazine.

Jenny Clements
PA to Chief Executive

Jenny joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in July 2010.

Jenny’s main responsibilities include providing full logistical support for the Chief Executive and working closely with the Chief of Staff to ensure that the Chief Executive is fully prepared for all meetings and events.

Prior to joining the Association, Jenny spent 21 years as PA to the Director of a trade association in the food industry. She also worked in the conference and banqueting department at a major London City hotel.

Jenny has a BA (Hons) in Home Economics and Social Administration from the Roehampton Institute.

Mark Cooke
Director of Finance & Corporate Services

Mark Cooke is a graduate of the University of Warwick. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 with Thomson McLintock, a predecessor firm of KPMG. He has over 30 years’ experience of financial, commercial and corporate services management across the private, public and third sectors including ten years’ as Director of Finance and Corporate Services at Big Lottery Fund, four years as Finance and Commercial Director at the British Printing Industry Federation and six years as Deputy Finance Director of Which? – the leading consumer organisation and publisher.

Frances Corbett
Head of PLSA Academy and PINNACLE

Since joining the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in January 2004 Frances has been involved in a number of key initiatives concentrating on learning and development for pension practitioners and trustees. Since 2013 Frances has been responsible for the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association Academy, the Association’s training and education services which offer a wide range of training, education and professional development for pension industry participants. In 2016 Frances also became responsible for PINNACLE, the Association's customised solutions service. During her career in pensions Frances has worked in pensions’ administration in Local Government, as a Pensions Officer for a trade union, as a Pension Administration Manager for the Civil Service and as a technical research consultant.

Frances is a Fellow of both the PMI and TPAS and holds a Certificate in Training Practice.

James Crawford
Facilities Manager

Joining the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in August 2014 as Facilities Manager, James is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the office and meeting spaces at Cheapside House.

This includes managing relationships with suppliers, delivering a first-class front-of-house service to the Association’s staff and visitors and ensuring that meeting spaces at The Association's Cheapside House offices are prepared in good time and ready for both internal and external meetings and events.

Before joining the Association, James was Resource Manager for Co-Operative Systems, and previously Facilities Manager for Cambridge House, a Camberwell–based Charity.

James has degrees in Economics, and Politics, Philosophy & History.

George Currie
Senior Policy Advisor

George joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in January 2017. 

George works on a variety of retirement savings policy issues, including the PLSA’s approach to the Government’s lifetime savings agenda and Defined Contribution pensions. He is also working on the industry’s long-term vision for retirement savings, which will assess the success of current UK Government policy in this area and, where possible, make proposals on how policy can be improved. 

Prior to joining the Association, George worked on challenging policy issues in the Civil Service, think tanks and the consumer goods industry. 

George holds degrees from the Universities of Oxford, Leeds and London, the last of these being a PhD in Political Philosophy.

Joe Dabrowski
Head of Investment and Governance

Joe joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in February 2016.

Joe leads the Governance and Investment team with responsibility for policy areas including defined benefit provision, pension scheme governance and institutional investment issues.

 Before joining the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association, Joe spent nine years at the Pension Protection Fund, where his last role was Head of Chief Executive’s Office. Earlier in his career he worked in policy and operational roles within central Government, including the Home Office and Defra.

Joe has a BA in English and American Literature from Warwick University.

Jess Davies
Events Manager

Jess joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in October 2006 and manages the logistics and production of the Association’s flagship conferences and exhibitions including the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association Investment Conference, Local Authority Conference, Annual Conference & Exhibition.

Before joining the Association, Jess worked for Brand Events and DMG World Media and was involved in a wide range of shows including MPH Live (now Top Gear Live), The Ski and Snowboard Show and Taste Festivals.

Jane Dawson
Head of Publishing

Jane joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in 2006 and as Head of Publishing is responsible for all publishing activity including Made Simple guides, the Yearbook, Annual Report & Accounts, conference guides and magazine supplements.

 She is the editor of Viewpoint (the Associations official magazine) which includes commissioning articles, design, imagery, production, subbing and editing of content. With strong creative and messaging skills, Jane also has oversight of the Association’s marketing activity with considerable input into branding and design.

 Before joining the Association, Jane worked at moneyfacts.co.uk as Head of Press and PR which involved setting up the media function at the organisation and prior to that, Jane worked for many years at Barclays Bank.

Matthew Downer
Researcher

Matthew joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association as a Researcher in June 2016.

Matthew supports in the delivery of the Associations’ research programme. Currently he is leading on the delivery of our research into the saving habits of young people and also the use of property in retirement as well the PLSA annual survey.

Prior to joining the Association, Matthew spent three years at a social research agency specialising in policy research and user experience for a number of central government and public sector clients including DWP, HMRC and Acas.

Matthew has a BA in International Relations and Politics from the University of Sheffield as well as the Market Research Society(MRS) Advance Certificate in Research Practices.

Tim Gosling
Policy Lead: DC

Tim joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in the summer of 2015 as the policy lead for DC. Previously he worked at NEST in the strategy team handling much of NEST’s public policy work and, prior to that, he worked in NEST’s research team. 

Tim began his career at the IPPR working on public service reform and pension issues. He has also spent time in market research looking at everything from healthcare reform, to the impact of Big Brother on C4’s brand and mission.

Varsha Gowda
Business Development Manager

Varsha joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in July 2014.

Varsha manages client relationships, especially with Business members, for growth and retention of sales. She is also responsible for sales of various exhibition, sponsorship, training and advertising items for the Association.

Before joining the Association, Varsha worked in sales at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) for two years.

Kate Hadley
Head of Events

Kate joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in May 2003.

Kate heads up the events team and is responsible for the logistical management and production of events organised by the Association.

The events team of five is typically responsible for approximately 15 events each year ranging from its flagship conferences including the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association Investment Conference, Local Authority Conference, Annual Conference & Exhibition, Scotland and Trustee Conferences to smaller hot topic seminars which we run in-house.  Attendance at events range from 80–1,500 people. 

The team also assists with the logistical management of training courses run by the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association Academy, Pensions Breakfast meetings and PensionsConnection meetings.

Prior to working at the Association, Kate worked for a couple of medical communication agencies organising a diverse range of events for their clients, both in the UK and internationally.

Ellie Halls
Events Executive

Ellie joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in January 2015. She manages the logistics and production of the Association’s exhibitions and event sponsorships, as well as being involved in the overall logistics of the Association’s major events. Ellie is also responsible for production of the Local Authority, Hot Topic Seminars, and Trustee Conference.

Lisa Hampton
Marketing Manager

Lisa joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in January 2009. As marketing manager she is responsible for developing and managing the Association’s marketing activities so that its products and services meet the expectations of its members and continue to reach a wider audience.

Lisa is a CIM qualified professional with a broad range of marketing skills acquired over fifteen years. She has held previous marketing roles at Lloyd’s of London, Standard & Poor’s, Brewin Dolphin and also within the commercial property sector.

Ben Harwood
Business Development Executive

Ben joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in April 2016 and manages client relationships, primarily with Business members, for the growth and retention of commercial business.

He is also responsible for sales of the Association’s exhibition, sponsorship, training and advertising items.

Before joining the Association, Ben began his career as a primary school teacher, before moving into various recruitment roles.

In his previous role Ben worked within the sales team at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) for 3 years.

Mark Hepworth
Finance Manager

Mark joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in July 2015.

As the Finance Manager, Mark manages all aspects of the Finance department, from weekly KPI reports, monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets. He manages the annual audit, undertakes financial analysis and oversees all day-to-day accounting and payroll functions.

Prior to joining the Association, Mark worked at the Natural History Museum and has worked in a broad range of financial roles across a variety of sectors, with previous organisations including LEGO, Sainsbury’s, Pilkington.

Mark is a Chartered Management Accountant and has a degree in Finance & Accounting from the University of Warwick and an MBA from the University of Manchester.

Luke Hildyard
Policy Lead for Stewardship and Corporate Governance

Luke joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in November 2015. As Policy Lead for Stewardship and Corporate Governance, he works to support members in making sustainable investments and engaging with the companies they invest in. This can involve working with policymakers and regulators in the UK and Europe on corporate governance policy and consultations; carrying out research into responsible investment issues, such as climate change or employee relations; and writing our annual publications on stewardship, including our AGM voting guidelines and survey of our members’ stewardship activity.

Prior to joining the Association, Luke was Deputy Director of the High Pay Centre think-tank. He has also worked for a number of other think-tanks and in local government.

He has a degree from Sussex University and an MA from King’s College, London.

Nikolina Hudi
Registration Executive

Nikolina joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in October 2012. She supports the Head of Events and events team in administering the Association’s comprehensive series of events, and is responsible for various aspects of work relating to event registrations including delegate enquiries, setting up events on the database and on-site registration management. She is responsible for the event logistics of various in-house events, including PensionsConnection events, Fund Member breakfasts, Business Member Forum and Teach-ins.

Prior to joining the Association, Nikolina spent six years working at the Croatian Embassy in London.

Stephen Judkins
Website Manager

Stephen joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in February 2006, initially working with the events team before moving to a website role.

As website manager he is responsible for the daily operation of the website, ensuring that key content such as news and events information is available for members, and that the website communicates the Association’s policy work, membership offer and commercial activities effectively.

Stephen is also responsible for the Association’s other websites including Pension Solution and Pension Quality Mark.

Antonella Lyons
Receptionist/Office Administrator

Antonella joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in February 2013.

Her main responsibility is to ensure the smooth operation of the reception, switchboard and administrative services including meeting and greeting visitors to the office, booking and organising of various meeting rooms, managing and maintaining the conditions of our premises.

Prior to joining the Association, Antonella worked in the retail sector as After Sales Administrator.

Rebecca Martin
Membership Executive

Becky joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in July 2008.

Becky works with the membership team. Her main responsibilities include membership enquiries, processing membership applications and renewals, and updating the Association’s membership database. Becky is also responsible for updating the membership and local group pages of the Association’s website.

Rebecca Moessl
Events Executive

Rebecca joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in February 2008. She is responsible for liaising with speakers on logistical aspects for all the Association’s major events including the Annual Conference & Exhibition, Investment Conference, Local Authority Conference, Trustee Conference and in-house seminars. Rebecca also runs the logistical side of the Association’s in-house training courses.

Before joining the Association Rebecca worked in customer service and operations roles in the insurance and other industries. Rebecca holds a business degree from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.

Kathryn Mortimer
Press Officer

Kat joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in June 2015.

Kat works in the press office, reporting into the Head of Media and PR and the PR Manager.

Julian Mund
Acting Chief Executive

Julian joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association as Commercial Services Director at the end of September 2013. Prior to this he worked at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) for almost 16 years. Most recently he was CIPFA’s Director of Markets and Product Development where he led CIPFA’s business development, sales and customer service teams. He also led on business growth and strategic development across CIPFA's commercial business. Prior to this Julian was Director of Operations at CIPFA and headed up the delivery of their commercial services which included events, training, publications, recruitment services, benchmarking, and consultancy. Julian worked at the Department for Education before joining CIPFA.

Julian has a degree in mathematics from London University and a master’s degree in policy research from Bristol University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and a Member of the Institute of Directors.

Veena Parmar
PA to Directors/ Administrative Support Assistant

Veena joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in November 2015, and is the PA to the directors of External Affairs and Commercial Services, as well as the administrative assistant to both teams.

In addition, Veena provides full administrative support to the Association’s Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Councils and other committees and working groups across the External Affairs Team.

Prior to joining the Association, Veena was the PA to the Director of Finance at University College London. Veena has degree in Business and Marketing Communications from the University of Greenwich.

Nigel Peaple
Deputy Director DC, Lifetime Savings and Research

Nigel has over 15 years’ experience of pension policy work. Most recently he worked at the Department for Work and Pensions as a Policy Fellow and prior to that he held roles as Head of Corporate Affairs and Director of Policy at the Pensions Regulator. He also acquired earlier pensions policy experience at the National Association of Pension Funds and the Association of British Insurers.

Victoria Pereira
Marketing Manager

Vicky joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in September 2015. She is responsible for developing and managing the Association’s marketing activities so that its products and services meet the expectations of its members and continue to reach a wider audience.

This involves creating a strategic marketing plan and its implementation through on and offline campaigns to reach members and industry contacts. 

Vicky is also responsible for arranging various media partnerships with industry magazines that are keen to support and get involved with our events.

Joanne Segars
Chief Executive

Joanne became the Chief Executive of the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in October 2006 having joined the organisation in 2005 as Director of Policy. Before joining the Association she was Head of Pensions and Savings at the Association of British Insurers (ABI) from 2001 to 2005. Joanne held the pensions brief at the Trades Union Congress (TUC) for 13 years and started her career in pensions as a researcher and journalist for Incomes Data Services.

Joanne sits on the Board of PensionsEurope, having spent two years as Chair, and also sits on the Board of Pension Quality Mark. Joanne is Chair of Pensions Infrastructure Platform.

Joanne is a founding governor of the Pensions Policy Institute and sits on its Council. She is also a Director of TUC Stakeholder Trustees Ltd. From 1996 to 2003 Joanne was a member of the board of OPRA.

Joanne has a degree in economics from John Moores University, Liverpool, and a Master of Arts degree in industrial relations from the University of Warwick.

Joanne was awarded an OBE for services to the pensions industry in the 2003 Queen's Birthday Honours.

Claire Simmons
Business Development Manager

Claire joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in January 2015 and manages client relationships, primarily with Business Members, for the growth and retention of commercial business.

She is also responsible for sales of the Association’s exhibition, sponsorship, training and advertising items.

Claire has worked in business development for over five years, most recently with Blackthorn Technologies and previous to that with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).

Elizabeth Spratt
Research Lead

Liz currently manages the research programme at the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association. Her role includes commissioning and undertaking research for a range of industry and consumer research projects about pension provision and retirement income.

The association’s research programme includes the long running annual survey of its pension fund membership as well as ad-hoc surveys of members, regular surveys of consumers and pension fund members as well as specialist research studies on subjects such as pension scheme costs and charges, longevity and retirement.

Liz has 10 years’ experience of undertaking quantitative and qualitative research in the public and non for profit sectors. Before working at the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association, Liz worked in the research team at the Local Government Association (LGA) for six years and has previously worked at HMRC , examining small businesses and taxation.

Rashmi Vekaria
Accounts Assistant

Rashmi  joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in May 2016.

She assists the Finance Manager and Assistant Finance Manager by carrying out day to day activity of sales and purchase ledger, credit control, month end accounting etc.

Prior to joining the Association, Rashmi was working with Tiffany & Co as Accounts Payable and was responsible for purchase ledger. Rashmi’s prior experience includes both working in commercial  and not for profit sectors.

She has a BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance degree from the Liverpool John Moores University.

Graham Vidler
Director of External Affairs

Graham has worked in pensions for almost twenty years, joining the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association as Director of External Affairs in 2014.

Before joining Graham had been NEST’s Director of Communications and Engagement for six years. Previously, he had worked in marketing, policy and research roles at AVIVA, Which?, the ABI and the House of Commons.

Graham has a degree in Geography and Sociology from the University of Kent.

James Walsh
Policy Lead: EU & International

James leads the Association’s policy work on EU issues, including the review of the EU pensions Directive, work on the Capital Markets Union and the UK’s exit from the European Union.

Prior to taking up his current role in 2009, James was Public Policy Manager for ASDA Stores Ltd and Head of Public Affairs at the Institute of Directors.

Earlier in his career he held a series of positions in the Conservative Research Department, serving as Head of Economic Section and then as Deputy Director. He has worked with political leaders in Namibia, Sri Lanka and Belarus.

Laura Webb
Head of Membership Relations

Laura joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in June 2011.

Laura heads up the membership department, leading on the Association’s recruitment and retention strategy, and keeping in-touch with membership by visiting members throughout the country year round.

Laura is also Company Secretary for the Association, dealing with the Board, constitutional matters and the Association’s Council elections.

Prior to working at the Association Laura held senior membership roles at a number of organisations including the Faculty of Public Health and the Institute of Fundraising. Laura has degrees in English Literature and Language and in Law.

Cheryl Wilkinson
Membership Engagement Manager

Cheryl joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in March 2017.

Cheryl has responsibility for membership engagement and retention.  Cheryl supports and develops the Association’s Local Groups and manages the PensionsConnection network events.

Prior to joining, Cheryl worked for Mercer managing their Diversity and Inclusion membership networks and events for the UK, Europe and globally.  Previous employers also include the Local Government Association and Association of Police Authorities.

She has a BA (Hons) Politics & Russian Studies degree from Keele University and MA Literature from University of Southampton.

Cheryl's main passion is singing and she is currently learning to read music and play the piano.

Idriss Zorilla
CRM Co-ordinator

Idriss joined the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association in February 2015. As CRM Co-Ordinator he supports and guides all departments using the Association’s CRM database, liaises with external IT contractors and develops new functionalities in the CRM to meet internal requirements.

Before joining the Association Idriss had more than eight years in experience in IT, with the last five years specialising in CRM databases.
